Workstation Installation & Registration

Workstation

This guide walks you through installing ZynoSuite Workstation on your PC or Mac, detecting connected hardware, registering the workstation with your ZynoSuite tenant, and preparing it for daily use.

Step 1: Download and Install

  1. Download the latest Workstation installer from get.zyno.app.
  2. Run the installer and follow the on-screen prompts to complete the installation.
  3. Once installation completes, launch ZynoSuite Workstation from the desktop shortcut or Start menu.

Step 2: Hardware Detection

When you first open ZynoSuite Workstation, it performs an automatic hardware detection scan. The app looks for:

  • Fingerprint readers — biometric scanners that enable fingerprint login
  • Payment terminals — card terminals for processing payments
  • Receipt printers — for printing sales receipts
  • Cash drawers — triggered automatically during cash transactions
  • Barcode readers — for scanning products into a sale or looking up inventory
  • Label printers — for inventory labels and shipping labels
  • Scales — for selling products by weight and generating shipping labels (coming soon)

The detection results are displayed on screen. You will see which devices were found and their connection status. If you have not yet connected your hardware, you can plug in your devices and re-run detection.

TIP

You do not need hardware connected to complete registration. Peripherals can be set up at any time. If your workstation will not use hardware peripherals, you can skip this step entirely.

Step 3: Register the Workstation

Registration associates this specific PC with your ZynoSuite tenant. This is what gives the workstation its identity in the system.

  1. Sign in with a ZynoSuite account that has administrative privileges (or workstation registration permission).
  2. The app will prompt you to register the workstation. Confirm the tenant you want to associate it with.
  3. Once registered, the workstation appears in your tenant's workstation list under Admin > Workstations.

Registration is a one-time process. After it is complete, the workstation is permanently linked to your tenant until an administrator removes it.

Step 4: Name the Workstation

Give the workstation a descriptive name that reflects its physical location or purpose. Good examples:

  • "Front Desk"
  • "Register 1"
  • "Register 2"
  • "Back Office"
  • "Service Counter"

This name appears in transaction records, audit logs, and the admin panel, so choose something your team will recognize. You can change the name later from Admin > Workstations.

Step 5: Sign In and Set Up Fingerprint Auth

After registration, the workstation is ready for daily use:

  1. Sign in with your ZynoSuite credentials. You will see the full ZynoSuite interface within the Workstation window.
  2. Set up fingerprint authentication (optional but recommended). If a fingerprint reader was detected in Step 2, you can enroll fingerprints from any workstation. See Fingerprint Authentication for the full enrollment process.

Fingerprints are stored at the organization level, not per workstation. Once a user enrolls their fingerprint on any workstation, they can use it to sign in on every workstation in the organization that has a fingerprint reader.

Post-Setup

With registration complete, your workstation is ready:

  • Session behavior — single-user workstations stay signed in with no idle timeout. Multi-user workstations lock after 1 minute of inactivity for the next user to authenticate.
  • Hardware is active — fingerprint readers and payment terminals work automatically once configured.

If you need to configure a payment terminal, see Payment Terminals for connection and setup instructions.

Troubleshooting

IssueResolution
Hardware not detectedMake sure the device is plugged in and powered on before launching the app. Try re-running hardware detection from the app settings.
Registration failsConfirm you are signed in with an account that has permission to register workstations. Check your network connection.
Fingerprint reader not recognizedVerify the reader is a supported model. Try a different USB port. See Fingerprint Authentication for supported devices.
