Screens & Outputs
WebWorkstationA device can have one or more screens (also called outputs). Most devices have a single screen; a Raspberry Pi can drive several at once. ZynoDisplay configures each screen on its own, so a two‑screen device can show two completely different things.
Permission Required
You need the Configure Displays permission to edit screens. See Permissions & Troubleshooting.
Where Screens Live
Open a device from the Devices list and select the Screens tab. Each screen appears as a pill you can select; the selected screen shows its settings, schedules, and controls. The Devices list also summarizes each device's screens so you can see multi‑screen setups at a glance.
Screen Settings
For the selected screen you can set:
- Label — a friendly name like "Left panel" or "Menu board" so multi‑screen devices are easy to tell apart.
- Display Group — add the screen to a group to share content and schedules with other screens. A screen in a group inherits the group's content unless it has its own default.
- Default content — what the screen shows when no override or schedule applies. See Assigning Content.
- Primary screen — marks the main output on a multi‑screen device.
- Position and size — screens report their resolution and arrangement; these help label multi‑screen layouts correctly.
Multi‑Screen Devices
When a device drives more than one display, each one is reported and configured separately. Give each a clear Label, set its default content (or assign it to a group), and add schedules per screen as needed. This lets a single player show, say, a menu on one panel and a promo loop on another.
Missing Screens
If a device stops reporting a screen — for example a monitor was unplugged — ZynoDisplay flags that screen as missing rather than deleting it, so its configuration is preserved if it returns. Once a screen is confirmed missing you can remove it from the device.
Common Issues
