Set Up ZynoDisplay on Roku

ZynoDisplay runs on most current Roku streaming players and Roku TVs. Install the player app, register the screen, then change a couple of Roku settings so the screen keeps showing your content around the clock instead of dropping back to the Roku Home screen.

Before You Begin

• The Roku is set up, connected to your network, and signed in to a Roku account.
• The screen has reliable power and internet — a signage screen should stay on and online.
• You have the Register Device permission in ZynoSuite. See Permissions & Troubleshooting.

1. Install the App

1. On the Roku, press Home.
2. Open the Channel Store (also called Search Channels / Streaming Channels).
3. Search for ZynoDisplay and add the channel.
4. Open ZynoDisplay once it finishes installing.

2. Register the Screen

On first launch the app shows a 9‑digit registration code. Enter that code in ZynoSuite to claim the screen.

3. Change These Settings (Keep It Always-On)

Roku has two power‑saving features that will interrupt a signage screen. Turn them off so the display stays on your content.

Turn off Bandwidth Saver

This is the important one. After 4 hours with no remote activity, Roku's Bandwidth Saver asks "Are you still watching?" and — getting no answer from an unattended screen — exits the app back to the Roku Home screen. A signage screen never gets remote input, so this fires every four hours.

1. Press Home, then open Settings.
2. Select Network, then Bandwidth Saver.
3. Set it to Off.

WARNING

Bandwidth Saver is on by default on Roku OS 9.2 and later. If a registered Roku keeps returning to the Roku Home screen roughly every four hours, this setting is almost always the cause.

Turn off Auto Power Savings

Some Roku players and Roku TVs power down or sleep after a period of inactivity.

1. Press Home, then open Settings.
2. Select System, then Power, then Auto power savings (the exact wording varies by model).
3. Turn off the options that reduce power or switch the device off after inactivity.

If your model has no Auto power savings menu, there's nothing to change here.

Screensaver

The ZynoDisplay app already suppresses the Roku screensaver while it's running, so you normally don't need to change anything. If you ever see the Roku screensaver appear over your content, set Settings → Theme → Screensaver to Off (or a screensaver of None).

Remote Controls

Roku does not support ZynoDisplay's remote device controls (power, reboot, and similar). You still get full content control — assigning content, scheduling, and live overrides — from ZynoSuite. For the platforms that do support hardware controls, see Remote Control & Management.

Common Issues

Problem	What To Check
Screen returns to the Roku Home screen every ~4 hours	Turn off Bandwidth Saver (Settings → Network → Bandwidth Saver). This is the most common cause.
Screen powers off or sleeps on its own	Turn off Auto power savings (Settings → System → Power).
Roku screensaver appears over the content	Set Settings → Theme → Screensaver to Off.
Shows the Roku Home screen after a power outage	Roku returns to Home after a reboot and doesn't relaunch channels automatically. Open ZynoDisplay again; the screen stays registered.
Can't find ZynoDisplay in the Channel Store	Search the Channel Store for ZynoDisplay.
The registration code is rejected	Re‑check all 9 digits against the code on the screen. See Registering a Device.
